Wow! Can you believe Summer is almost over already? I live in Louisville, KY, in the Ohio Valley where it isn't so much the heat that kills you, it is the humidity. I am from California, we have a lot of hot weather there, and you can be out in it with out feeling like you are going to die. There is NO humidity there. Here, it is different, you open up your front door and it feels like you have just hit a brick wall. We really haven't had that bad of summer, nor did we have that bad of a winter either. So, I am not sure what to expect this Autumn and Winter.
I for one love the Spring and Autumn! I don't know if is the weather or the changes. In Autumn, the mums are budding, the leaves on the trees are changing into beautiful colors of red, orange and yellow. My favorite sport starts, Football - L1C4, it is time to pull out the sweatshirts, hoodies, tailgating, gatherings around fire pits and ending the Catholic picnics. There are so many things to do that is fun before winter starts to roll in.
In Spring, Tulips are coming up, and Easter lilies are budding. The birds are chirping, the trees are budding, the apple blossoms are in full bloom as are the dogwood trees. The grass is greener and soon will need it's first cut. Kids spring break will be approaching, as is Prom. The days get warmer as they get longer, and it's time to bring out the shorts as summer is quickly coming in...
However, not all people think of it that way. My mom didn't, and I don't know if it was loosing 2 children (infant and 23 year old sons) or my dad, or a combination of the three. She looked at Autumn as if it was dying, Winter as if it was dead, Spring as birth, and Summer as life.
I can see where and how she can see these things and the ideas she had in her made perfect since to those of us who have an open mind.
With this, I am going to end by saying, however you look at the seasons, I think we all love to bring out our hoodies when Autumn comes around, And, just a reminder, we set our clocks back, November 6, 2017.
