Since Ally's Law has passed, many other states have passed their own called the Restroom Access Act. It requires retail establishments that have public restrooms for their employees to also allow customers to use the facilities only if they suffer from inflammatory bowel disease or other medical condition requiring immediate access to a toilet.
There are 14 states that have passed a version of this law:
Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Ohio, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin.
Each state requires the cutomer present a document written by a medical professional attesting that the customer uses an ostomy, suffers from Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, or other inflammatory bowel disease, or other medical condition requiring access to a toilet without delay.
In at least 2 states, Oregon and Tennessee, a customer can present an identification card issued by a national organization advocating for the eligible medical condition.
