My favorite holiday is Christmas, always has been, always will be. I love everything about it. The meaning, Christ's birthday, the story behind it, Santa Claus, Decorations. lights, EVERYTHING! I always seem to get into the spirit the month after though. I never miss a Christmas movie or a Christmas song.
I have always thought of Christmas as a magical time of year. When hopes and dreams can and do come true. Even at 41, the child inside of me still believes there is a Santa. I love sitting by the lit tree with a glass of wine and listening to Christmas music. I have always enjoyed all that is Christmas.
I seemed to enjoy it more when I had my own children. The things I did to bring Santa to life for my children. But it was fun for me, and my children's eyes to see that Santa left his snow tracts in our home was priceless. Taking my children to see Christmas lights then stopping for hot chocolate. Or joining Christmas caroling, then stopping for the hot chocolate. Oh the joys of Christmas. Sharing with my children my traditions that I grew up with. The only opening of stocking before I got into the room, as it was the same tradition my parents had with us. No presents until Christmas morning.
Now my children are young adults and no children of their own yet. But, I hope they share my tradition and add their own to it. That is the joy of traditions, you pass it on, and add your own twist. Well, I am going to continue watching the Hallmark channel, and will probably start my Christmas shopping soon, as I have birthdays that are around Christmas as well.
