I had a lot of testing done on March 25 and on April 1. My testing was on how serious the GASTROPARESIS is. My test results were not good. My doctor wasn't surprised by my results is what she told my husband on Friday. Gastroparesis is a stomach disorder in which food moves through the stomach more slowly than normal. In a healthy digestive system, strong muscular contractions move food through the digestive tract. With Gastroparesis, however, the stomack mucles work poorly (or not at all) preventing the stomach from emtying properly. Gastroparesis can be devastating on one's physical well-being. Can cause nause, voming, malnutrition, and in adequate blood sugar levels. There is no cure, but thereare therapies that improve symptoms and offer hope for a better quality of life. I have been treated for Gastroparesis for the last 2 years with a medication called Reglan, a motility drug. It seemed to help in the beginning. But over time it became worse. So bad infact, i came to the hospital twice thinking i had a bowel infection. My GI is part od the motility team so i was very lucky not to wait 6-8 month to be seen. Had an appointment before i was released from the hospital. My next appointment this Thursday is to discuss the temporary pacemaker (stimulator). They place it inpatient and the wires come out through my nose. Not looking forward to that because i can't stand |
